Animation Program
Ron Velasco is a Los Angeles based illustrator, character designer, visual development and sketch artist. He has been working as a professional in the entertainment industry for the past 16 years.
Ron first started as a character artist for Disney Consumer Products (Maleficent, Pirates of the Caribbean, Tron, John Carter of Mars, Pixar’s Cars, Toy Story and Alice in Wonderland), helping them create illustrations for product style guides. Then he took his first steps into animation working in studios such as DisneyToon Studios (Planes 2, The Pirate Fairy and The Legend of the Neverbeast), Nickelodeon (Angry Beavers and Dora and Friends) and Warner Brothers Animation (DC Super Hero Girls). Ron is currently back at DisneyToon Studios as a character designer for their new upcoming movie.
Aside from animation, Ron has had the opportunity to teach art classes at several art schools. Classes such as basic drawing foundations, observational skills, design fundamentals, and character design for the entertainment industry. These schools include Gnomon, Los Angeles Academy Figurative Art, The Animation Guild, 3Kicks Studio, and currently at the Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles .
