With knowledge of academic principles gained from Repin Academy, Vadim Zang moved to the United States in 1992, to learn more about American and European art concepts. While continuing his education, Vadim met many strong painters and went to a number of academies. In early 2000s, Vadim met Mark Westermoe at Associates in Arts, and finding that to be one of the strongest schools at that time, kept attending for Mark’s workshops. One of the most productive days in Vadim’s experience was painting with great American modern masters; such as Richard Schmidt, Jeremy Lipking, and Steve Huston. With this exposure to various art influences, he greatly improved his skills.
After working as a graphic designer in the early ‘90s, he later became an art director in the early 2000s. In 2006, while holding his own alla prima painting workshops, he was invited to teach at the Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art.
In his art, Vadim’s brush strokes are guided by first impressions, and he tells a long story with few words.
