ALL LIVE COURSES ARE PACIFIC TIME.

There will be two separate sessions of this course. Weekday sessions and Weekend sessions. Both sessions cover the same material.

Description Perks Bio Policies

PREREQUISITE: Knowledge of animation principles and prior experience with animation is highly recommended for this course. Please note that this is a software course and we will not be teaching basic animation principles.

This much-anticipated course will take students all the way from Beginner through Advanced levels of Toon Boom Harmony for 2D Animation production. In this comprehensive eight-week class, students will:

Use all of Harmony’s design and drawing tools to digitally ink and paint a traditionally drawn run cycle
Build on those tools to create “tradigital” paperless animation from scratch
Learn how to manipulate the camera, background, and other 2D and 3D assets in 2D and 3D space
Animate comfortably with both simple and complex rigs
Create a simple rig from scratch and learn how to transform it into a more complex 360-degree “turning” rig with Master Controllers
Composite a scene completely within Harmony, including adding internal and cast shadows, VFX, and overall “look” filters
Finish the course with several pieces they can confidently add to their portfolio

Each class will be recorded and accessible to all students during the course + 7 days after completion. You will be able to review lessons before moving on to new concepts.

A one-year Toon Boom Harmony 22 Premium License will be provided to each attendee who elects to purchase this option.
Students receive a Toon Boom Harmony Associate Certification Exam after completion of the course.
Students receive a Certificate of Completion from the Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art after completion of the course.

Melissa Graziano is a storyboard artist and animator who has worked at Warner Bros, Bento Box, Starburns Industries, Shadow Machine, Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, Powerhouse Animation, and 6 Point Harness/6 Point 2. Melissa has also worked as a Toon Boom Harmony consultant and freelance rigger and animator on many independent projects. Since 2014, she has taught Harmony and Storyboard Pro at LAAFA, Studio Arts, and Microdesk, and at the college level at Loyola Marymount University, USC, and UCLA.
