This sketchbook-based class is for all skill levels and offers a practical approach to landscape sketching on location or from photographs. Whether you are creating beautiful sketchbook pages for a travel journal or sketches as studies for a finished painting, this class will teach you how to effectively turn a great view into a compelling composition. Through lectures and demos you will learn watercolor and gouache combination techniques as well as how to pick the most effective color palette for your paintings.

Amanda Mears studied in London at Turps Art School, and then here at LAAFA for 3 years. She exhibits her work in Los Angeles and London and has taught Beginning Drawing and Painting fundamental classes for several years at LAAFA, as well as privately in her Culver City studio and at a Los Angeles school. She is currently earning her Master of Fine Arts degree on a full scholarship at Claremont Graduate University.
