This class covers creating quick, impactful watercolor paintings from prepared reference material. The class will begin with a brief demonstration on how to choose references when planning a painting. Students will then be taken through the painting process, covering the concepts and techniques of watercolor. This workshop is appropriate for students of all levels. Students may work on their own pieces alongside the instructor, sending in progress photos and receiving constructive feedback, or they may use the workshop as a webinar to just observe and take notes for their own future works.
A virtual room link will be sent to you up to 24 hours prior to your class start date. A short tutorial will be given prior to the live class starting.
Unable to attend a sessions? No worries, ALL students will have access to watch the recorded session for 10-days. Recording available 1 day after live session.
Watercolor Paints (tubes will suffice, though a pan set is recommended. The instructor uses a Schmincke pan set, but other brands will work as well)
Canson watercolor paper (9”x12” or smaller is recommended)
Brushes (a variety of sizes)
Container for holding water
Paper towels

Chris SooHoo makes paintings, films, and dabbles in virtual reality development. In 2016 he received his Bachelor of Fine Art degree with honors from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. He has been teaching in the Extension Program and the Summer Art Program for the past 3 years at LAAFA.
